DAIRYLAND WALKERS MONTHLY MEETING
MIDDLETON PUBLIC LIBRARY
FEBRUARY 12, 2001

Officers Present:  Tom Doyle (President); Karen Reger (Secretary); Russ Crane (Assistant Treasurer)

In Attendance:  10

Program Coordinator Judy Fritz introduced Jim Draeger, an architectural historian from the State Historical Society, who had given a slide program at one of our previous meetings.  He gave a program titled "Wisconsin Architecture, Continued."  He showed slides of examples of various kinds of architecture popular in Wisconsin from 1876 to 1945.

Tom Doyle indicated that he has clip art of various AVA logos that people can use when designing brochures for walks.  Russ Crane said that they are also available on the Internet.  Tom also indicated that if you are planning a walk for this year, get the brochure done ASAP.  Tom also gave Karen Reger copies of our yearly brochure to mail to clubs that have sent us brochures of their walks.

Judy Fritz passed around pictures she had taken at our club's shoeshoe/skiing event last month.  The club gained one new member from that event.

Tom and June Doyle and Ed Reid are going to Gulf Shores, Alabama, to participate in some of the President's Day Weekend events to be held there (seven walks, four swims, and three bike rides).

Russ Crane gave the Treasurer's Report, a copy of which is attached.  He also said that all requests for reimbursement should now be sent to him instead of Bob Sparks.  Tom Doyle indicated that that would be written up in a forthcoming newsletter.

Ruth Pederson is continuing to work on the club shirt project.

Tom Doyle mentioned that at the biannual AVA conventions, different clubs bring items representative of their state or area to be auctioned off to raise money (for example, a basket from Wisconsin might contain cranberries, cheese, beer, etc.).  Perhaps this is something our club can do if any members are going to the convention.

Ed Reid presented Tom Doyle with a nice pin from New Glarus to add to his hat pin collection.

The next meeting will be held on March 7 at Monona Terrace, with the speaker to be Betsy Haynes, talking about basic photography.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:40.
