  This is one of three events that the Madison Area Volkssport Association and the Greater Des Moines Volkssport Association are hosting this weekend.  The other events are at Pikes Peak State Park in Iowa and Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.  (Details)

Start Point: Wyalusing State Park - Look for the AVA signs & banners.

ENTRANCE FEE – 2008 Wisconsin State Parks sticker  -or-
$7.00 per day vehicle entrance fee (WI residents)
$10.00 per day vehicle entrance fee (Non-resident)
Hours:
Sat, Oct 18 - Start between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  Finish by 5:00 p.m.
Sun, Oct 19 - Start between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.  Finish by 3:00 p.m.

Distance:

10K & 5K
Rating:
2 for both distances  (Scale 1 to 5 with 5 being the most difficult.)
Not suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.

1. Native America Culture ● Winnebago Chief Green Cloud - Led last band of Indians to camp in what is now the park.

Directions:

From Madison:  Take US-18/151 west toward Dodgeville. Follow US-18 west toward Prairie du Chien.  Just south of the Wisconsin River, turn west (left) on County C, then right on County X following signs to Wyalusing State Park.

From LaCrosse: 
Follow Hwy WI-35 South (Great River Road) through Prairie du Chien.  Shortly after crossing the Wisconsin River turn west (left) on County C, then right on County X following signs to Wyalusing State Park.

Look for the AVA signs & banners.

 

Parking:
Ample  parking is available.
Description: The bluffs of Wyalusing State Park, stand 500 feet above the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers. One of Wisconsin's oldest parks, Wyalusing features Indian burial mounds, over 22 miles of hiking trails, and four historical markers within the park.  Wyalusing's 2,628 acres include hardwood forests, pine plantations, bluffs, springs, waterfalls, wetlands, and backwaters.

There will be no award for this event. 
Registration: There will be no pre-registration.

Pets:
Pets are allowed on leash.
