This event is held in conjunction
with the Syttende Mai celebration which is sponsored by the Stoughton Chamber of
Commerce. The Chamber has it's own (non-AVA) walk and a run that is held
concurrent with this event and follows the same route. The Chamber's
events are the primary events. The Chamber has graciously agreed to allow
this AVA Sanctioned event to be offered along with their walk.
Therefore, in addition to registering for this event, you must also
separately register for the Chamber's Syttende Mai Walk.

Directions:
|
To Start: Walkers may park
their vehicle at the start and after the walk return via bus. From
I-90, exit on Hwy 12/18 west. Exit on Rimrock Road, at the Dane County
Coliseum and turn left, crossing over Hwy 12/18/151. The start will be at
the first intersection.
To Finish: Walkers may park their vehicle near the park where
the walk finishes and take the bus to the start. From Madison on I-90,
exit on County Hwy N west. Follow Hwy N to Hwy 51. Right on Hwy 51
into downtown Stoughton. Left on Fourth Street to Mandt Park. |

At Finish: Parking is limited at the park, but street parking is
available. |

The walk begins in Madison and travels along paved country roads to Stoughton. Stoughton is a
beautiful small city of 12,000 that boasts a strong Norwegian heritage.
Each May a four day celebration recognizes Norwegian Independence.
Visitors from around the country and the world descend on Stoughton to join in
the celebration. |
