Directions:

From Madison take I-39/90/94 toward Wisconsin Dells. Continue on I-39 at Exit
108. In about 2 miles take Exit 87 on to WI-33 east (Right). Follow WI-33 across
the Wisconsin River. Shortly after crossing the river WI-33 turns Right on to W
Cook Street. Continue about 6 blocks to W Wisconsin Street. Turn right on W
Wisconsin and go about 5 blocks. Riverside Park will be on your right.
Look for signs and the AVA banner.

| Description: |
Portage is the third oldest settlement
in Wisconsin. The route will take you on the Wauona Trail, current name for the
centuries old 1.5 mile long portage that connects the Fox River which flows
north to the Great Lakes and the Wisconsin River which flow south to the
Mississippi and the Gulf of Mexico. You will walk a portion of the 1200 mile Ice
Age National Scenic Trail. Route includes the historic Fort Winnebago / Surgeons
Quarters, Historic Portage Canal, the Indian Agency House, and numerous other
things of historic significance. |
